ONE FUND BOSTON was formed by Governor Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas M. Menino on April 16, 2013, immediately following the tragic events of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Its two year mission was to provide personalized support and care for those injured and killed in the Boston Marathon bombings, and to help the victims’ families. Among the victims were many of Chinese descent and one of the fatalities was a Chinese national, 23 year old Lu Lingzi, a graduate student at Boston University.
PLCT was honored to participate in this world-wide support and fund-raising effort. Eventually the Fund distributed more than $80 million with more than $20 million in the form of cash gifts to individuals, as well as funding the One Fund Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
